Hi, I'm Delgira. 🌸  I'm a Brooklyn based multi-faceted artist with a myriad of creative pursuits spanning music, visual art, and tattooing.

Originally from the steppes of Kalmykia, I moved to the States at the age of six with my family. Ever since I can remember, I've always gravitated towards visual arts, especially drawing and painting. In middle school, I learned to play the keys and continued taking art classes. I was also part of a performing arts high school where I was introduced to writing music, performing and backstage production. In class, I'd always doodle on my arms and on my friends using a liquid eyeliner. That got me thinking: being a tattoo artist one day would be so cool. It's been one of my dreams ever since.

Around that time, I gradually got into alternative R&B through artists like The Weeknd and FKA Twigs, as well as electronic music. In summer 2014, I attended a Flume concert; Sweater Beats opened the show with a lush electronic R&B set that left a mark on me. I remember thinking "wow, these sounds are so magical..I want to do that too..". That was the first moment I felt inspired to produce and DJ. I didn’t start learning both crafts until around 2017 though. I pursued music as my field of study at Brookdale Community College, while maintaining two jobs on campus - music lab assistant/social media for the music department and gallery assistant at the college's gallery.

During those years, I'd go to local underground hiphop & electronic shows as well as open mic nights, surrounded by great community of creatives. Outside of my creative life, I was getting more involved with my Kalmyk community, organizing events focused on preserving and promoting our culture. Actually, most of my artistic creations are inspired by the beautiful spirituality of my culture.

I’m incredibly grateful to be doing the things I love - creating and collaborating on music, and exploring an exciting new medium: tattooing, all while balancing my work at a wonderful nonprofit cultural center, Tibet House US, in New York City.
